I was speaking at a luncheon at one of the local wineries today (yes there’s wine produced in this part of the world). I hadn’t been out of town in this direction for some time so I took the opportunity to take a few photographs. The land was being hit by the midday sun (well, perhaps a little later) so everything’s more contrasty than I would like.

Volcanic plug A volcanic plug. There are several of these in this area marking the location of volcanic activity a long time before I was born.
